Why the lowest headline may not be the lowest total

  • Group minimums differ: one IDR 400k rate requires at least six people, while another group rate starts at three.
  • A “NOW” promotion without a published end date must be reconfirmed rather than treated as permanent.
  • Two hours total and up to 1.5 hours in the water are not the same unit.
  • Private 1:1, 1:2 semi-private and 1:3 group formats should not be compared on price alone.
  • Pickup may be included only inside a radius; board and rash guard are common, while booties, zinc and media differ.
  • Deposits, cancellation windows, optional photos and personal insurance can materially change the working cost.

Calculate a working total

Ask whether the figure includes every tax or service charge and whether the deposit forms part of the price or is additional. Keep the comparison in IDR: a static USD, EUR or AUD conversion becomes inaccurate as exchange rates move.

Never divide a price again when the provider already labels it per person. If a term is unclear, keep it unresolved and ask through the official booking channel.

(price per person × people × sessions) + transport + optional media + required equipment + payment fees = working total

Copy-and-send quote request

Hello. I am enquiring about a surf lesson for [date], for [number of people]. Our real level is [first time / beginner / intermediate], and our swimming confidence is [description]. Please confirm the all-in IDR price, maximum group ratio, briefing and water time, proposed beach and fallback, included equipment, transport boundary, optional media, deposit, payment, cancellation or weather policy, and insurance terms.

Price is only one booking criterion

A lower price does not answer whether the teaching environment matches the student. Compare the current instructor, aquatic-rescue credentials, group ratio, beach-selection process, equipment condition and willingness to move or cancel when the ocean is unsuitable.
